Captain’s Book Shoppe LLC

1. The Captain’s Book Shoppe LLC is a private and independent book marketer that maintains a strict confidentiality with our clients. Store operations are monitored through on and off-site video surveillance. Captain’s Book Shoppe LLC does not discriminate between race, creed, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender, age, height, weight, physical or mental ability, veteran status, military obligations, and marital status. All clients are treated with honesty, dignity, respect, and confidentiality in accordance with legal and ethical book selling standards. Illegal activity is reported to the appropriate authorities. Seditious, militant, homophobic, or racist materials of non-historical value are not welcome, nor are they bought or sold at the Captain’s Book Shoppe LLC.

a. Books with monetary value are often controversial. The subject matter of the items stored or shelved in the store may not have been priced or fully evaluated. Captain’s Book Shoppe LLC specializes in history.

Captain’s Book Shoppe stocks a wide variety of perspectives concerning religion, art, science, democracy, and social justice.  If a client finds an item in the store that they believe is misplaced or not properly marked, please notify the proprietor.  The goal is to maintain a safe, stress-free, enjoyable browsing environment for all.


b. Captain’s Book Shoppe LLC will not share or disclose Constitutionally protected browsing or buying habits of our guests.


c. Captain’s Book Shoppe LLC may disclose sale records, your name and contact information to authorized auditors as required for tax purposes.


d. A small portion of Captain’s Book Shoppe LLC inventory are commissioned items for sale. The legal owner commissioned Captain’s Book LLC to sell it. Captain’s Book Shoppe LLC may disclose the price you paid for a specific book along with contact information (bill of sale) to the commissioner. Books labeled with a SKU number followed by a “c” are commissioned items.


e. The Captain’s Book Shoppe may disclose or otherwise allow others access to your Personal Information pursuant to a legal request, such as a subpoena, legal proceedings, search warrant or court order, or in compliance with applicable laws, if we have good faith belief that the law requires us to do so, with or without notice to you.


f. Provenance authentication to include clear title of books, documents, or ephemera often requires disclosure of whom possessed the item. Identification and authentication of signatures (autographs) requires full public disclosure concerning the item, the signature and their history. Captain's Book Shoppe LLC may disclose all known information concerning books and ephemera with provenance or signatures to include owner, buyer, and seller information.


g. Customers or clients that follow the Captain’s Book Shoppe LLC via social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google, eBay, and Linkedin may opt to publicly list themselves as a customer, client or follower on our social media organizational sites. The Captain’s Book Shoppe will not sell or give away our social media lists. Depending upon your personal social media settings, your social media information maybe public information.


h. Clients and customers that give testimonials or rate our service and business via social media acknowledge their identities as a customer are a matter of public record.


2, The Information the Captain’s Book Shoppe LLC collects: We receive, collect and store any information you enter on our website or provide us in any other way. In addition, we collect the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet; login; e-mail address; password; computer and connection information and purchase history. We may use software tools to measure and collect session information, including page response times, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information, and methods used to browse away from the page. We also collect personally identifiable information (including name, email, password, communications); payment details (including credit card information), comments, feedback, product reviews, recommendations, and personal profile.


3. Information collection. When you conduct a transaction on our website or in our store, as part of the process, we collect personal information you give us such as your name, address, and email address. Upon client request, Captain’s Book Shoppe may send book catalogs or bookstore promotional information through the mail, email or via text. All clients that commission sales through Captain’s Book Shoppe must maintain current contact information with the store. Your personal information will be used for only the specific reasons stated above.
