Written by American attorney, politican and controversial author, Ignatius Donnelly (1831-1901).  Minnesota State House of Representatives 1887–1888, 1897–1898.  Minnesota State Senate 1874–1878, 1891–1894.  U.S. House of Representatives (Congress)  March 4, 1863 – March 3, 1869.  Minnesota Lieutenant Governor January 2, 1860 – March 4, 1863. 
 
Two volume work, 900+ pages arguing that Francis Bacon was the writer of Shakespeare plays.

Title page appears to be engraved printing and lettering.  Scratched boards.  Minor, spotty foxing on enpapers.   Soiled edges.  Bumped corners.  Shelf wear to foot of boards.  Natural, even browning of pages (toning).
